2010 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition
On the Horizon: New and Developing Employment Laws
This session is intended to outline current federal and state employment law trends, proposed legislation, new acts and significant employment law decisions so that employers stay abreast of and plan appropriately given such developments.
The past year and a half has brought to the forefront a bevy of employment law issues for greater consideration or implementation including changes to discrimination law penalties and protected classifications, a wider view of retaliation claims and more tailored, targeted enforcement of civil rights, safety and immigration laws.

This session will explore proposed and actual changes to federal employment laws as well as state employment laws that may influence other jurisdictions. Likewise, recent significant employment law decisions will also be examined for the lessons they provide to today’s employer.
