SHRM Recommended Readings
Workplace Privacy
After the program, you will have a better understanding of how privacy rights of employees affect the rights of an employer to regulate business activities.
The session will review the implications of privacy in the employment context. It
includes a review of the origins of privacy rights, how privacy was extended to employment, and how privacy affects both an employee’s right to privacy and the employer’s right to protect its interests.

The session also examines a wide range of privacy issues, from an employer’s interest in regulating off hours conduct to reviewing e-mails sent from a private account on a company computer.
