2010 SHRM Annual Conference On Demand
“What Happens in California . . .Can Get You Sued (And Probably Won’t Stay In California)”
SHRM Recommended Readings
Californa and Federal Employmen Law Manual
California Labor Law Digest
This session will help California and non-California Human Resources professionals understand California employment law, and it will discuss the practical effects of these laws on employers and employees.
California likes being different, and this is borne out in its employment laws, many of which are unique to California or materially different than other jurisdictions. Consistent with its pioneering past, California often enacts new laws first, that soon spread to other states (e.g., paid sick leave). This program will provide an overview of California’s unique laws that can subject employers to liability, and highlight its laws that may soon spread to other states.
