2010 SHRM Annual Conference On Demand
Organizational Inclusion: What Is It, and Why Should We Care About It?
Attend this session and learn about how creating a climate of inclusion can benefit your organization.
As diversity in the labor force continues to increase, it's more important than ever for HR executives to understand the conditions under which diversity "works." Research and practice have shifted from a focus on diversity to inclusion, although what exactly constitutes inclusion remains unclear. In this presentation, Cornell University Professor Lisa Nishi will present a model of organizational inclusion that consists of three primary dimensions: fairly implemented employment practices; a work environment/culture that is open to differences; and inclusion in decision-making. Drawing from research funded by the SHRM Foundation, she will discuss research findings which attest to the power of creating inclusive organizations.
